It was reworked and modernized around the 1970s, with a zipper added in the back, making it easier to wear. Because of the empire waist, this can also be an incredible vintage

This romantic vintage red velvet dress was custom-made in the late 1930s (possibly early 1940s), and is entirely one-of-a-kind. The maxi-length crushed red velvet is so rich. It features a gathered empire waist, with long tailored sleeves that come to a point at the cuff. It was reworked and modernized around the 1970s, with a zipper added in the back, making it easier to wear. Because of the empire waist, this can also be an incredible vintage maternity dress. Closes in the back with a zipper.

The Antique Victorian Heart Locket pictured is also available. 

Measurements: This will best fit a size X-Small, Small and possibly Medium; please refer to below measurements. It is smaller through the shoulders and chest, with more flexibility through the waist and hips.
Chest: 37"
Empire waist/underbust: about 29", gathering offers some forgiveness there
Hips are open up to 45"
Length: 53"


Good vintage condition overall; there were some repairs made to the fabric at the bottom skirt towards hem. My husband is 6'1, weighs 178 pounds and normally wears a medium or large. Just for reference his pant size is a 32-34 depending on the brand. But when he put his large on, a medium would not have fit good to be comfortable & give proper fit in stomach area, so glad we went with the large. It is a nice shirt, good quality, and if someone wanted it for an event/cruise or just for a night to dress up, especially for a Caribbean/Spanish or Latin dance theme, this shirt is a perfect look to me. Buy it, you will not be disappointed. He has not worn it yet, not washed it, but I would not put in it with other colors, may fade a little like reds do, and definitely, only dry on low/delicate. May need a pressing/steaming, but overall, it was not horribly wrinkled when we received it. A toss in the dryer may just do the trick. Was delivered on time as it said it would.
