Calcium also increases heat-tolerance and helps to reduce the amount of heat stress experienced by plants in warmer climates.

Calcium Nitrate Fertilizer works great on tomatoes and peppers to reduce blossom end rot. It also helps to prevent tip burn in lettuce and rust spot in potatoes, both of which result from calcium deficiencies. Our Calcium Nitrate Fertilizer is a water-soluble formulation that can be used with our EZ-FLO Injector in conjunction with a drip irrigation system. It can also be applied as a foliar spray, or by dissolving in a watering can and applying to the soil at the plant roots. Calcium Nitrate may be applied in the granular state as well. Side dress by applying fertilizer at least 2 inches away from the plant stem. Cover fertilizer with soil for best results.

Calcium Nitrate Fertilizer Use Recommendations

Injection: Apply 10 to 15 pounds per 1,000 square feet throughout the life of the plant. "Spoon feed" by applying at two week intervals, 5 pounds per 1,000 square feet at a time.

Foliar Spray: Mix 2-4 tablespoons per 1 gallon of water and spray leaves. Be careful doing this in really warm temperatures as the leaves can burn if outside temperatures are too hot.

Side Dress: Apply a tablespoon per plant, or 2 lbs per 100' row. Apply fertilizer at least 2 inches away outside of plant stems. Do not allow contact with wet plant foliage.
