CropSalt Starter Pack | Happy Hydro

Five bags, one feed chart, zero additives from clone to harvest

CropSalt is a complete two-part powder nutrient line with a finishing product called Cake. The Starter Pack ships with Veg A, Veg B, Bloom A, Bloom B, and Cake, so you have everything for a full cycle out of the box. You mix dry powder into water at a fixed ratio, follow the same feed chart CropSalt has published since 2016, and skip the shelf of bottles entirely. It uses 40% fewer grams per gallon than competing salt lines and includes multiple calcium sources, so no separate cal-mag is needed.

No additives needed Same feed chart since 2016 Pure raw minerals

Serving growers since 2006
Bottle nutrients vs. CropSalt
Typical bottle lines
  • 6 to 12 bottles per cycle, each sold separately
  • You're paying to ship water weight
  • Feed charts change every few years as formulas get reworked
  • Separate cal-mag bottle required with most lines
  • Dyes stain tanks, lines, and pots
  • Prilled or clumpy powders dissolve unevenly
CropSalt
  • Two-part veg, two-part bloom, and a finisher. That's the whole line.
  • Dry powder ships light and stores compact
  • One feed chart, unchanged since 2016
  • Multiple calcium sources built in, no cal-mag needed
  • No dyes: reservoirs stay clear, no tank scrubbing
  • Finely ground for uniform dissolve and accurate measuring
Built around one feed chart and five bags

40% fewer grams per gallon 40% less

CropSalt's concentrated formula means you use roughly 7.7 grams total per gallon in veg (4.6g A + 3.1g B) compared to 12+ grams with most competing salt lines at the same EC.

Multiple calcium sources, no cal-mag needed

CropSalt is the only line formulated with more than one calcium source. This eliminates the separate cal-mag bottle and keeps your mixing routine to two parts plus Cake at the end.

Set EC from start to finish

CropSalt was the first nutrient line designed to run a fixed EC throughout the cycle. You don't ramp up or taper off weekly. The feed chart strength stays consistent, which simplifies automation.

Fine-ground powder, not prilled

The powder dissolves completely and measures accurately on a gram scale. Prilled or clumpy alternatives can lead to inconsistent mixing and inaccurate feeds.

Works with tap water, stable pH

Tap water blends well with CropSalt and reduces the need for constant pH adjustment. If you use RO, CropSalt recommends blending with enough tap water to stabilize pH naturally.

Doser and stock tank ready

CropSalt dissolves cleanly in concentrated stock solutions for use with Dosatron, Netafim, or any injector system. Setup diagrams are available on the CropSalt grow documents page.

How to use CropSalt from clone to harvest

1

Mix Veg A/B from clone through day 21 of flower

Weigh 4.6g Veg A and 3.1g Veg B per gallon of water. For seedlings, start at 1.53g/1.03g and increase to full strength as the second set of leaves appear.

2

Switch to Bloom A/B on day 22

Mix 5.1g Bloom A and 2.6g Bloom B per gallon. The first 21 days of flower use Veg because higher nitrogen reduces stretch and tightens node spacing.

3

Finish with Cake for the last 14 days

Mix 3g of Cake per gallon of water by itself. This replaces Bloom A/B for the final two weeks before harvest.

4

Keep it sterile with bleach and RunClean

Add 0.2 ml of unscented Clorox bleach per gallon twice a week. Use RunClean to prevent scale buildup in lines, tanks, and pots.

Frequently asked questions
Not at all. You weigh the powder on a gram scale, dump it into water, and stir. Because CropSalt is finely ground (not prilled), it dissolves quickly without clumping. The entire feed chart fits on one label, and the ratios don't change week to week, so once you measure it the first time you've basically learned the whole system.
Yes to both. For DWC, swap your nutrient solution weekly and add 0.2 ml of unscented bleach per gallon twice a week to keep things sterile. For AutoPot systems, CropSalt works well but you'll want to flush the lines periodically to prevent mineral buildup. RunClean handles that without affecting EC or your microbial life.
No. CropSalt includes multiple calcium sources and provides all the magnesium your plants need. Adding extra products can alter the nutrient balance and may cause more problems than it solves. If you see deficiency symptoms, check your environment and runoff pH first. The only additions CropSalt recommends are unscented bleach for sterility and RunClean for descaling.
During the first three weeks of flower, your plants are still stretching and transitioning. Higher nitrogen from Veg A/B reduces that stretch and tightens node spacing. Switching to Bloom A/B on day 22 gives the plant the phosphorus and potassium profile it needs once it's committed to flower production.
Tap water works well with CropSalt and actually helps stabilize pH, reducing the need for constant adjustment. If you use RO water, CropSalt recommends blending in enough tap water to buffer pH naturally. Either way, target 6.2 pH going in and watch for 6.0 to 6.1 in your runoff.
At full-strength feed rates, 1 lb of Veg A makes roughly 98 gallons and 1 lb of Bloom A makes about 89 gallons of nutrient solution. For a typical home setup of 12 plants in 2-gallon pots fed daily, plan on 1 to 2 lbs of each product per full cycle. The 1 lb pack is a good trial size for a small grow, while the 5 lb pack covers larger setups or multiple runs.

Value for your money

I am loving the sound quality while listening to music as well as watching movies. I am running a 5.2.2 surround sound which is a step up from my sound bar and I am loving it. This receive has tons of features. Apart from the sound quality, I love the fact that I can set my power on volume and a volume limit.

More like a 7.1.2 not 7.2
Style: AVR-X2800H
Looks and feel brand new, set up is easy especially if you have used Denon before. I needed to upgrade my old system to get the 8k signal for a new TV i bought. The only issue I've had is its listed as 7.2, but its more of 7.1.2. You can connect 7 speakers and adjust each individually, you can connect 2 subs but they both receive a split signal and can not be individually adjusted in the receiver. A little misleading, but still a great system.

Worth the Money
Style: AVR-X2800H
I have had this item for a few weeks now. This is the first high-tech AVR I have purchased. I decided to retire my 25 year old Denon AVR 900. Still works awesome and is in perfect shape. Needed to upgrade to newer technology. Many will frown at this, but I initially sent back an Onkyo TX-RZ30. I just found that I did not feel comfortable with the technology, but it is an exceptional receiver. I decided to go with the Denon AVR-X2800H. I just feel more confident with the Denon layout and setup guide. I have not been dissapointed. I very reluctantly ordered a refurshed model. I can tell no different, even in the packaging. Looked totally brand new. I will say that I am still learning all of the setup, but so as for ease of general setup and assigning speakers it has been very user friendly. I was curious to see the sound difference with music between my 25 year old Denon and the new Denon 2800. I was not dissapointed. I have a smaller room for the AVR, so I am using Klipsch 600II, Klipsch 400C center speaker, Fluance Signature Series bookshelf speakers, and Polk OWM3 rear speakers. The receiver push all these speaker quite easily and efficiently. I would definatly recommend this Denon model. Can it last 25 years plus like my other Denon. Only time will tell.

Please Read for Troubleshooting Info
Style: AVR-X2800H
I purchased a refurbished device and at first it worked fine. Then it started having a lot of trouble on power up locking into my DirectTV cable signal. It kept powering up my Blu-ray player and accessing its menu, even though I had not selected it and there was no disc loaded. I became frustrated enough that I returned the device. Wish I hadn't as it was a nice home theater system. To make a long story short, I bought another brand of receiver (for more money) and continued to have the exact same problem. Finally, a Google search found a troubleshooting solution on reddit. Many reddit users suggested turning off the HDMI CEC control. This was easier said than done, as this HDMI CEC control setting was not found in the Denon receiver menus. It was found in the setup menu for the Blu-ray player. Once I found the proper setting and turned it off the receiver was no longer confused and trying to access the Blu-ray player upon power up. It locked in on the DirertTV signal and was rock solid. I wish I had learned this solution earlier and had kept this nice receiver. I'm so bummed.
