Epipremnum aureum 'Jungle Star' ('Marble Green')

Epipremnum aureum 'Jungle Star' ('Marble Green') is a green-on-green variegated pothos with heart-shaped leaves marked in lime, mid green, and deeper emerald tones. The lime, mid-green and dark-green markings vary across each blade.

The plant grows as a flexible indoor aroid vine. Young stems can trail from a pot or be trained upward, where the aerial roots can grip a textured support. The green-dominant pattern leaves more green tissue across each blade, with lighter lime marbling across the foliage.

As a selection of Epipremnum aureum, it comes from a wet-tropical climbing species native to Mo‘orea in the Society Islands, with aerial roots adapted for attaching to humid forest surfaces.

Green marbling at a glance

  • Heart-shaped leaves with lime, mid green, and deeper green marbling.
  • Lime to emerald patterning that varies naturally from leaf to leaf.
  • Trailing or climbing stems with aerial roots at the nodes.
  • Stems can be trained on moss poles or allowed to cascade from hanging pots.
  • Warmth, bright indirect light and drainage help reduce stretched stems and wet-root stress.

Node growth and green-patterned leaves

'Jungle Star' ('Marble Green') has glossy juvenile leaves with the same node-based growth structure as the species. The colour shifts within the green range, from lime markings to darker mottling, giving the foliage layered green variation across the vine.

The stems can be left to lengthen or cut back to encourage new side shoots. Each healthy node can root, which makes the plant easy to refresh when vines become long. On a support, the aerial roots attach more readily in warm, humid conditions, and leaf size can increase as the stem matures.

Care for a green-marbled pothos vine

  • Light: Place in bright indirect light or gentle filtered light. Strong direct sun can mark the glossy surface, while very low light can stretch the stems.
  • Water: Water when the upper 20–30% of the mix is dry. Let excess water drain fully so lower roots do not sit in stagnant moisture.
  • Substrate: Use a chunky, free-draining aroid mix with bark, perlite, coco chips, or pumice. The vines grow best when the root zone stays airy.
  • Temperature: Keep at 18–28 °C for active growth. Avoid cold wet conditions around the roots, especially in winter.
  • Humidity: Average indoor humidity is usually enough, but steadier humidity helps new leaves expand smoothly on climbing stems.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during the growing season. Pause or reduce fertiliser when growth slows under short winter days.
  • Training: Pin stems to a moss pole or let them cascade. Prune above a node to make the pot fuller and root cuttings from healthy vines.

Growth and colour checks

  • Faded-looking pattern: Check whether the plant is in very low light or has been pushed into harsh sun. Adjust placement gradually.
  • Yellowing leaves: Feel the mix below the surface. Yellowing with damp substrate points to too much water or poor drainage.
  • Thin, stretched stems: Move closer to bright indirect light and prune long bare sections back to active nodes.
  • Brown marks on leaf edges: Review watering gaps, fertiliser concentration, and dry heat exposure near radiators.
  • Stalled new growth: Check root space, temperature, and light. Cool rooms and compacted mix slow new vine extension.

Safety around chewing and sap

Epipremnum aureum 'Jungle Star' ('Marble Green') contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. Chewing the foliage can irritate the mouth and digestive tract, so the plant should be kept away from pets and small children.

Name and species background

Epipremnum comes from Greek roots meaning “upon” and “trunk,” reflecting the climbing habit of the genus. The species epithet aureum means “golden,” from the golden-yellow markings of the classic species form.

works great
Size: EK6002
i've had it for a couple of weeks now, and i will say, it works well. calibration isn't in the instructions, but, if you hit and hold all 4 buttons when you turn it on, after it says hello, it will enter cal mode. pressing unit advances to the next screen, which is the auto shut off time. if you turn off the power, or use all 4 buttons to reset it, it does not seem to save, so you will have to purchase calibration weights in order to change it. after setting the auto shutoff, it then lists the 3000 g, which is the max weight. it seems you can change it, but i haven't tried. the next shows random numbers, seemingly the raw value of the scale sensor, then it goes through asking for a 500g calibration weight, and after that, a 2000g calibration weight. the 1000g weight doesn't seem to be necessary. after calibration, the scale seems to do pretty well with the calibration weights. weighing in the center and in the corners seem to be repeatable, although it may be a little off at the very edges or corners. the mat that goes on top of the scale has a hangover on the left side, which helps keep it in place, but it can slide up and down. using the scale to measure liquid, it seems to refresh quick enough to easily allow you to gauge when to stop, although, it may depend on how quickly you pour. one thing to note, the precision mentioned in the description. this scale is accurate to 0.1g from 0-500g, 0.5g from 501-1000g, and 1g from 1001-3000g. this isn't over the weight range of the scale exactly, but rather over the displayed weight. meaning, if you decided to weigh pour over or something, in something heavy (or a collection of things), if you tare out the weight (zero it out to measure the difference), it will still display the first 500g up to 0.1g accuracy. that makes the 3000g limit of the scale much more useful. lastly, this is a rebranded scale...many make the same scale under a different brand. i can't remember which combination of buttons it was, but if you held 2 buttons at the same time, it would bring up a muted speaker (no sound) icon, even though this scale doesn't have sound to begin with. i'm very happy with this scale. the price was good, and realizing that the 0.1g accuracy works up to 500g after taring is great. i used it to measure the water and ice in my 64 oz yeti, to figure out how much water i was actually drinking (got very close to the limit of 3000g).

Good scale to use while making pour over coffee and other things
Size: EK6002
So there is one problem that I have found with this unit so far, but only one, it lags in accuracy slightly. I have used the Timemore black mirror for over a year now and I find this scale to be much nicer in everyway with the one exception. It doesn't instantly measure your pour, it needs a second or less after you stop pouring to give an accurate measurement. It's usually about a gram lag and I have gotten used to dealing with it however you should upgrade your sensor to give a faster reading. Now in every other way I prefer this scale to the Timemore which is almost 3 times the price of this scale. This scale is longer with a larger area to work on making it much more comfortable to do a pour over, also this scale has a solid flat surface where the controls are meaning you will not get water into the controls. I have had it happen more than a few times with the Timemore where if some water falls on the area of the timer or tare switch they stop working temporarily. While making a pour over it is a significant problem when that happens, I don't think I will ever have that problem with this unit because there is no area for the water to penetrate. I do wish the controls gave a beep when you activated and if they made the sensor respond more quickly those would be some nice improvements. However in all for the price of this little scale you can't go wrong, I have no idea how long it will hold up as I have used it for about a month. However if it continues on as it has I see it performing well for a long while, thanks for the great scale and even better price.

Excellent scale in all ways.
Size: EK6002
I’ve used this identical scale for four years, though with a different brand name on it, still identical, made in China with a friendly “Hello” on the splash screen when you turn it on. After approximately 1,000 uses in four years, it suddenly died one day, lost its mind and became obviously useless. When that happened there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to replace it with exactly the same scale because I liked the old one so much. The controls are logically laid out, the display is bright, it automatically turns itself off after a few minutes if you forget about it. I’ve tested it with standard weights and it’s precisely accurate. It’s correctly sized for its task (a coffee scale), it’s slim, light, has a removable, washable rubber mat that covers the weighing platform, and is altogether a winner in design and utility, and there’s no reason to change anything about it. When this one fails, I’ll be happy enough to buy another. It costs twenty bucks . . .

Simple, does the trick.
Size: EK6002
It's a simple, basic scale. Lightweight, it's easy to move from where I stash it to where I use it for measuring coffee. The unit of measure holds it setting when you turn it off, which is nice. I use it in grams for coffee, which is 95% of my use. I acquired a big bag of coffee (5lbs or so) which I broke down into smaller vacuum-packed bags for storage, measured out at 180g each. The scale mostly performed like a champ, although it drifted off zero twice between during bags. Simply shutting restarting the scale got it back on track. It works for me, if you're a hardcore candy maker or baker, you may want a higher quality unit.

Great scale, great price.
Size: EK6002
3 years in, this scale was well worth the $23 cost . Still works flawlessly. I use it multiple times per day for coffee and cooking. Honestly if it had been twice that much it would have been worth it. Partially because of the price point, I don't know if I could come up with a complaint if I had to give one.
