Euphorbia squarrosa is a spiny succulent with a swollen rootstock that extends into a caudex, from the top of which arise many branches in all directions. It can grow up to 12 inches tall, while the caudex can reach a length of 25 inches and a diameter of 4 inches.The branches are dark green with grayish spines, creeping or semi-erect, typically 3-angled and slightly twisted. They can grow up to 8 inches in height and 1 inch in width. The spines are initially reddish-brown, turning gray as they age. They arranged in pairs on either side of a roughly circular shield of the same color, aligned along the ribs of the branches. The tiny triangular leaves fall off shortly after they appear. This plant flowers in late spring and summer, they grow solitary and arise from the notches of the ribs of the branches. 
It likes pots with generous drain holes, needs a very airy potting medium.
This plant has an excellent heat tolerance, and needs full sun to light shade exposures, it grows well even in full blasting sun, but can tolerate moderate shade.
Water regularly during the active growing season. No water should ever be allowed to stand around the roots. Keep almost completely dry in winter. However, this spurge will tolerate dryness and can even thrives in poor, dry soils, but do better when grown in nutrient-rich soils with regular watering. Some cold tolerance. This spurge has tolerated temperatures down to 21 F.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
