Light

Bright, indirect light is essential. Variegated leaves need more light than standard monstera, but avoid direct sun, which can scorch the yellow sections. Low light will slow growth and reduce variegation.

Water

Water when the top 2–3 inches of soil are dry. Water thoroughly, allowing excess to drain. Never let the plant sit in water—root rot is the fastest way to upset a Monstera Aurea.

Humidity

Prefers moderate to high humidity (50–70%). Extra humidity supports larger leaves and healthier variegation, but it will still perform well in average household conditions.

Temperature

Thrives in 18–27°C (65–80°F). Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C (60°F).

Soil

Use a well-draining, chunky aroid mix. A blend of coco coir or peat, bark, perlite, and a bit of charcoal works beautifully to keep roots aerated and healthy.

Fertilizer

Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer, diluted to half strength. Reduce or stop feeding in fall and winter.

Growth Habit
