Pachira aquatica

Native to areas of Central and South America, this tropical tree sports beautiful hand-shaped foliage and an easy-growing nature. It’s more tolerant to overwatering than many common houseplants. This makes it an excellent choice for plant parents who tend to overwater. In its native habitat it can reach more than 50 feet tall but stays much smaller indoors.

It’s become associated with good fortune due to a legend about a farmer who found some seeds, planted them, and made a business of selling the trees. Thus, the tree brought him good fortune.

Additionally, exposure to the sap of this plant may cause discomfort to individuals with a sensitivity to it upon contact. I've been using this for about a month now, every night on my face and neck, hoping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and tighten some of my skin in that area that seems to be losing elasticity. You can feel something when you apply it, it's almost like the feeling of static electricity, but it's very mild. I wouldn't let that stop you from giving it a try if you were concerned about it. It didn't cause my sensitive skin any breakouts or redness (although I was applying it at night before bed, so perhaps any redness was calmed overnight). I'm going to go ahead and finish the bottle, but based on these results, I probably won't repurchase.
