Where in the world are they from?
Found throughout the paranÔøΩ river system in Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.

What is the ideal number to keep together?
Buenos Aires Tetras are a shoaling species, and are best kept in large numbers. For best results we recommend keeping at least 6 in a shoal - the more the happier they will be.

What water conditions do they require?
Ideally slightly acidic water conditions are provided between 6.5pH - 7pH however they will happily live in conditions ranging up to pH of 7.5. Temperatures should range between 24-26°C.

What should you feed them?
Buenos Aires Tetra should be fed a variety of flake, frozen, freeze dried and live foods for a varied diet. Being omnivores they will happily accept a wide range of foods.

How compatible are they with other fish?
Buenos Aires Tetra are a community fish and are generally accepeted by a wide range of tank mates. When kept in small numbers or in limited space they can be known to be fin nippers, provide large numbers and plenty of swiming room to avoid this behaviour. Do not keep with anything overly shy or timid. Please see the compatability chart below for more information.

Can they be bred in captivity?
Females tend to be more robust, but they require very soft acidic water to breed. As with all other Tetra they will scatter their eggs over fine plants and care must be taken with young to make sure adults to not interfere.

How do you breed them?
?Females will exhibit a much deeper body, especially when carrying eggs. Can happily be bred in captivity, however care must be taken with eggs and fry as no parental care is provided.
