Rocket City Daylily
‘Rocket City’ daylily has large bright, bittersweet orange blooms with burnt orange eyezone. Reaches around 3′ tall in our East Tennessee garden. The color of this big blooming beauty perfectly captures the heat of summer. Impossible to ignore and a delight to see in the early to mid season garden.
As an early to mid season bloomer, we begin to see the first of the vivid blooms of Rocket City around the first of June. If you live to our north, you’ll see them a few weeks after we do. If you live to our south, you’ll see them a couple of weeks before us.
Rocket City is a dormant daylily. This means it is best grown in areas that receive a sustained winter cold period– like gardens in zones 7 and lower.
These gorgeous orange blooms bring the heat to the mid summer garden, but absolutely stop traffic when paired with deep, dark purple and rich, sizzling red. Amazing!
