Application in the cosmetics industry
The aqueous extract is free from essential oils and therefore free from declarable fragrance allergens. In the cosmetics industry, aloe extract is used universally for moisturizing, after-sun, wound healing and soothing products. The acemannan promotes cell regeneration and hydration. Typical applications include after-sun, facial gels, body lotions, hair care and shaving care. (gel) or 0.1-5 % (concentrate).
Application in the food industry
In the food sector, aloe vera gel is established in drinks and yoghurts. Its use as a food supplement is documented. Aloe latex (aloin) as a laxative is restricted throughout the EU. Regulatory status: Food (gel), latex restricted.
