Broccoli Early Purple Sprouting Seeds

HIGH YIELDING SPROUTING VARIETY: Purple-sprouting broccoli has great flavour, a long harvesting season and is extremely good for you. Early Purple is a very heavy cropper producing excellent coloured spears. Broccoli is packed with nutrition and is an excellent source of vitamins A and C and a good source of iron.

EXTREMELY WINTER HARDY BROCCOLI: Purple Sprouting Broccoli Early is an early variety that produces rich purple spears of excellent quality. It can crop from November from early under cover sowings until May the following year, from late sowings. A great one for your Christmas dinner. Extremely hardy and a prolific grower reaching 90cm height.

HOW TO PLANT: Sow the seeds thinly in a well prepared seed bed 2cm deep in rows 15cm apart. Recommended soil temperature: 15-18°C. As the seedlings appear, thin to 7cm apart. When they are about 10-15cm tall, transplant to the growing site about 60cm apart, planting them 2cm deeper than in the seed bed. Water well. This Broccoli will reach maturity in March to May the following year. TOP 

GROWING TIPS: Plant in rich fertile soil in a sheltered, well drained position in a sunny or partially shaded spot outside. Water thoroughly during dry periods to prevent bolting. Pick regularly when the spears are well formed but before they open. Take the central spear first to encourage a lot of side shoots. Although the heads of broccoli is typically the only thing utilized, the stalks, buds and leaves are also edible.
