Spilanthes, Toothache Plant - Acmella oleracea

Fun to grow medicinal herb in the Aster family that is an annual in Oregon but can perennialize in warmer climates.  Spilanthes has cylindrical yellow flowers with a red bullseye in the center that are actually called  inflorescence composed of many small flowers. A nice ground cover that grows prostrate and makes a good border plant around other tall perennial herbs. The leaves and flowers are edible but they provide a numbing tingly sensation to the mouth.  Seeds require some light to germinate. Sow into flats about 6 weeks before your last frost.

Saving This For Future Play
This is very similar to an older green platypus dog toy that my puppies managed to destroy in record time. Keeping that in mind I’m going to wait awhile before letting them play with it. It’s adorable and doesn’t deserve an untimely death. They’ve managed to chew holes into two supposedly tough toys in less than a day. Their permanent teeth are coming in so maybe there’s hope for the future.

Not as pictured
From the picture, this duck looked stuffed and full. Instead it is completely flat.

Not so durable, but still decent
Durable...if you don't have a dog that chews. But it is cute and he LOVED it while it lasted. He just has a vengence against all squeakers.

Great Soft Duck Toy
I've bought several of these over the years. My Australian Shepherds love them and often play with the duck on their own. Eventually one surcomes to an occasional tug-a-war. My dogs are moderate tuggers.

It's his favorite toy
This duck is his favorite toy. He takes his "duck baby" up to bed with him every night. It's held up to his love well. This is his second duck as the one we received as a gift 2 years ago is still alive and well just very dirty and in need of a stand in when his time comes. Over all Rico is quite happy with Duck and would give 5 barks.
