It can also be used for control of annual and perennial weeds and brush growing on non-cropland areas such as railways, roadsides, timberyards, storage areas, industrial sites around silos and sheep yards.
Active Ingredient:
900g/kg hexazinone in the form of a water dispersible granule.
Main Uses:
- Forestry (Radiata pine).
- Site prep and release spraying.
- Lucerne (established stands).
- Selective control of grasses + broadleaf weeds.
- Non-crop areas.
- Industrial, waste areas (non-selective long-term control).
Weeds Controlled:
- Grasses: browntop, paspalum, annual poa.
- Broadleaf: clovers, thistles, ragwort, chickweed.
- Woody/scrub: gorse, broom, blackberry, bracken.
Key Application Rates: (from label)
- Forestry – Radiata Pine.
Site prep: 2.5 – 10 kg/ha.
Release spraying: 2.5 – 5 kg/ha (up to 7–10 kg/ha for hard weeds).
- Non-selective (industrial / bare ground).
General control: 5 – 10 kg/ha.
Scrub weeds: 7 – 10 kg/ha.
- Spot spraying.
General weeds: 0.25 – 0.5 g/m².
Hard weeds: 0.6 – 1 g/m².
- Lucerne (12+ months established).
Light weeds: ~1.2 kg/ha.
Harder weeds: ~1.8 kg/ha.
Application Notes:
Apply post-emergence when weeds are actively growing, Use boom, aerial, or spot sprayers, Requires good agitation in tank. Coverage is critical for performance.
Key Restrictions & Warnings:
Do NOT use on:.
- Light sandy soils or low organic matter soils.
- Waterlogged ground.
- Stressed trees (drought, disease, transplant shock).
- Avoid use over weak radiata pine.
- Do not add surfactant when spraying over trees.
- Long residual – can affect future crops (e.g. no brassicas for 12 months).
Safety & Environmental Hazards:
- Harmful if swallowed.
- Causes eye irritation.
- May damage organs with repeated exposure.
- Very toxic to aquatic life (long-lasting).
- Hazardous to soil organisms and wildlife.
Strengths:
- Strong residual control (long-term weed suppression).
- Effective on tough scrub + perennial weeds.
- Flexible (forestry + non-crop + lucerne use).
Limitations:
- Soil type sensitive.
- Can damage desirable plants if misused.
- Long persistence limits crop rotation.
Caution:
